Gourmet Glaciers Navigation with disembarkation in Puerto Moreno and tour of the walkways in front of the Perito Moreno glacier.

Description

The navigation takes place on the María Turquesa catamaran with great comfort and technology.

Glaciers Day, beginning of the tour with the pick-up of passengers in El Calafate(1) at 07:15 am, to arrive at the embarkation port 08:20 am, 08:30 am boarding begins at the La Soledad private port, 09:00 am departure of the catamaran to carry out the Glaciers Gourmet navigation.

Firstly, we navigate the North Arm of Argentino lake, crossing the Boca del Diablo natural access door of the north arm, until we reach the Upsala channel, where we will find a large number of icebergs, the boat will navigate between the icebergs and make stops, to enjoy this wonderful and unique experience.

Continuing with the navigation, the catamaran will approach the Upsala Glacier, reaching the Herminita Peninsula to have a panoramic view of it. The approach will be the permitted by National Parks for safety, the view of the glacier is currently from about 5 km.

Following the south route along Argentino lake until reaching the Spegazzini channel, in the channel you get an excellent perspective of the Pineta, Seco and Heim hanging glaciers and the impressive Spegazzini glacier.

Navigation allows the approach to the Spegazzini glacier with frontal walls between 80 and 143 meters above lake level, the highest in Los Glaciares National Park.

The navigation continues to the Las Vacas Post (Bay of the Spegazzini Channel), where we disembark and take a walk coordinated by the team of guides, with a view of the old settler Post, recognition of flora and fauna, a place that provides a wonderful landscape.

The navigation route continues towards the North arm of Argentino lake – iceberg channel – to navigate in front of the northern wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier and observe the most imposing glacier in the National Park.

15:30 pm mooring of the boat at the Argentino lake port for the descent of the passengers, ending the navigation. While descending our staff receives them to tour the circuit of walkways of the Perito Moreno glacier, from their balconies you can get the different views of the most famous glacier of the National Park, the «Perito Moreno».

The walk along the walkways is free, the walkways have an extension of 5 km and are made up of stairs that descend until they are close to about 300 meters from the front of the glacier.
146 meters from the access to the walkways is the Main Balcony, from where you can see a stunning view. The north and south walls can be seen, as well as the glacier dedication area.

From each of the remaining balconies distributed along the stairs you can appreciate the majesty of this ice giant.

18:00 hours meeting with the vehicle and return by road to El Calafate.

  • 3:30 pm: mooring in Puerto Moreno.
    Transfer to the walkways and tour of them.
    Disembarkation, reception by our staff.
  • 6:00 pm: return by road to El Calafate.
  • 7:15 pm: arrival in El Calafate and the hotels.

Lunch box with drink, options:
1 – Lamb lunch box: lamb sandwich braised on wholemeal organic flour bread, with caramelized onion, soft dressing and Creole cheese.
2 – Chicken lunch box: shredded chicken sandwich marinated in garlic cream, on Vienna bread, with grilled bacon, candied tomatoes and cheddar cheese.
3 – Vegetarian lunch box: grilled vegetable sandwich in bran bread and multigrain seeds, with chickpea hummus and slices of tybo cheese.
4 – Bondiola lunch box: sandwich of tender pork bondiola, marinated in spice sauce on French bread, with stir-fry of red onions and pategras cheese. Accompanied by a barbecue dip.
Accompaniment: Potato omelette and spinach omelette sandwich with cherry tomatoes accompanied by a smoked cheese dip.
Dessert: Dulce de leche mousse with nuts and peanut praline.
Drinks: A non-alcoholic drink or a glass of red wine.

Is it cold inside the boat?
The catamaran has excellent heating.
Can you get off the boat?
Yes, you can stay on the decks throughout the entire route, except at departure and moorings or expressly indicated by the captain of the boat.
⦁ Should I bring a meal or is there somewhere to eat?
You can bring your own food, purchase it on the catamaran, or we suggest purchasing a lunch box with an optional drink.
Are all the walkways in front of the glacier visited?
The route is free, the ideal is to walk through all the walkways, to the lower viewpoint and have the different views of the glacier.
⦁Are there bathrooms on the catamaran and on the gangways?
Yes, the catamaran has toilets, as well as the walkways, they have easy accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
