Description

Accompanied throughout the journey by a bilingual guide from Los Glaciares National Park.

We travel 80 km to the walkway area in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Starting the tour by picking up the passengers at the hotels(1), to the right of the road you can see Argentino Lake , as well as its Redonda Bay.

In the first 50 km the landscape is dominated by the Patagonian steppe.
Within Los Glaciares National Park, tree vegetation predominates, mostly belonging to the Nothofagus family (Lengas, Ñires, Coihues de Magallanes).

The guide will explain the rules of behavior within the National Park.

During the remaining 30 km there will be stops to take panoramic photographs and the first views of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Finally, the guide will inform you of the meeting time for the return.

The transfer ends at the walkways and the guide will explain the circuit options that are possible to travel.
The walk along the walkways is free, however, the guide will accompany the group to the main balcony and will provide assistance.
The walkways have an extension of 5 km and are made up of stairs that descend until they are approximately 300 meters from the front of the glacier.

Perito Moreno Glacier Viewpoints:
146 meters from the access to the walkways is the Main Balcony, from where you can see a stunning view. The north and south walls can be seen, as well as the glacier indication area.
From each of the remaining balconies, distributed along the stairs, you can appreciate the majesty of this ice giant.

Finally, after the walk along the walkways, the return to El Calafate begins.

NOTE: for lunch, the area has a restaurant and a snack bar.

Itinerary

Departures: 08:45 hrs year-round. 12:00 hrs from November to March.

  • 08:45 / 12:00 hrs: Start of the hotel pickup tour (1).
  • 09:20 / 12:35 hrs: Approximately, Route RP 11.
  • 09:50 / 13:15 hrs: Stop at Los Elefantes viewpoint.
  • 10:30 / 13:45 hrs: Entry to the National Park.
    Ticket purchase – not included in the tour price.
  • 10:50 / 14:00 hrs: Stop at Los Suspiros viewpoint.
  • 11:40 / 14:50 hrs: Arrival at the walkways in front of the glacier.
    Walk along the walkways and their viewpoints.
    Time for lunch at a restaurant or picnic.
  • 15:20 / 17:30 hrs: Meet with the guide for the return journey.
  • 16:40 / 19:00 hrs: Return to El Calafate and the hotels.

    The route is free, the ideal is to walk through all the walkways, to the lower viewpoint and have the different views of the glacier.
  • Is the guide at our disposal?
    Yes, it will give you all the information about the glacier and the National Park in general. They will accompany you to the main viewpoint, inform you about the walkway circuits and will remain on site to assist you.
  • Should I bring a snack or is there somewhere to eat?
    You can bring food and drinks, buy at the snack bar or have lunch there. The place also has a space for those who bring food.
  • Are there bathrooms on site?
    Yes, next to the restaurant there are toilets, it has easy accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
