It offers the possibility of enjoying the charms of the northern area of ​​Los Glaciares National Park all year round.

Description

The tour begins with the pick-up of passengers from their hotels (1), accompanied by a bilingual guide.
We take route N°11 to the intersection of national route N°40 (32 km) in the direction of El Chaltén, we will take the mythical Route 40 bordering Argentino Lake, we will cross the Santa Cruz River (here we will relate Darwin’s experiences together to Fitz Roy, going up this river until very close to there), we continue to the La Leona River, where we will travel through its canyon until we reach, after 1 hour 15 minutes, the old and historic Paso La Leona roadhouse and country Lodge, where if the passenger wishes, it can have a coffee with homemade cakes and enjoy the small museum.

We continue bordering Viedma Lake, until reaching provincial route N° 23, with the Andes Mountains in the background, including Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.

Before reaching the town we will stop at the Viedma Glacier viewpoint from where you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the Glacier, the Mountain Range and the emblematic Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.
Arriving at the mountain town of El Chaltén after approximately 3 hours of travel, having traveled 220 km.

From the National Parks Interpretation Center we will begin the walk with a guide authorized by the National Park towards the Mirador de los Cóndores, it is an ascending walk of low difficulty.
After just over an hour he takes us to this magnificent viewpoint of the entire mountain range that surrounds Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, including Agujas Mermoz, Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, among others.
It is possible to see the Piedras Blancas Glacier from there, with the town of El Chaltén below us and also with Río de las Vueltas Valley in the background, truly a panoramic point of excellence.

After this walk we head to a restaurant in the center of town to enjoy lunch in an atmosphere with an adventurous spirit.

In the afternoon we will continue by the northwest, entering the Río de las Vueltas Valley, after leaving our vehicle and a short walk, we will arrive with the guide to Salto del Chorrillo, a beautiful waterfall with crystalline melt waters, in a forest of wooded environment of lengas and ñires of great beauty.

Passengers will have approximately one hour to tour the town, enjoy the craft brewery, a classic of El Chaltén, or perhaps stop by the waffle shop or a tea house. Then the return to El Calafate begins.

NOTE: the order of the walks can be modified due to weather, or better organization of the day.

Itinerary

• 07:30 am: beginning of the tour by the hotels(1).
• 09:00 am: La Leona roadhouse and country Lodge.
• 11:00 am: arrival at El Chaltén.
  Walk with the guide.
  Lunch.
• 5:00 pm: departure to El Calafate.
• 8:00 pm: return to El Calafate and the hotels(1).

Difficulty level: low. The walk to Mirador de los Cóndores has a slope of 150 meters.
The excursion is suitable for all ages.
People with reduced mobility cannot participate, the trails are mountain trails.
No accessibility for people in wheelchairs.
Duration: 10/12 hours.
