Todo Glaciares
Navigation on Argentino Lake
Description
Boarding at Bandera port. Once on board, passengers will be informed of safety regulations and navigation conditions.
The activity takes place in a modern and comfortable catamaran with the latest technology.
Firstly, we navigate the North Arm of Argentino Lake, crossing Boca del Diablo, the natural access door of the north arm, until we reach the Upsala channel, where we will find a large number of icebergs. The boat will also navigate between the icebergs and you will make stops to enjoy this wonderful experience.
Continuing with the navigation, the catamaran will approach the Upsala Glacier to have a panoramic view of it. The approach will be the permitted by National Parks for safety, the view of the glacier is currently from about 5 km.
Then we will sail to the Spegazzini Channel and moments later we will have the first view of the Seco Glacier. We will continue sailing to the front of the Spegazzini Glacier, the highest in the National Park, the view is impressive and its walls reach 140 meters high, where we will also contemplate the Heim Sur and Peineta glaciers.
Subsequently, you disembark at La Base Spegazzini – in front of the Spegazzini glacier – where you begin the visit to the area walking through the forest path to the Spegazzini Refuge. This 300-meter trail has unparalleled views of La Bahía de Los Glaciares, along its route you can enjoy themed stations and viewpoints.
This iconic landing point has two trails designed for visitors to explore Glacier Bay. The forest path runs three hundred meters from the landing point to the Spegazzini Shelter. During the walk we will stop at different stations (Glaciology – History – Fauna and Flora) from where we have access to viewpoints. The trail is accessible and does not represent complexity since it is done on firm ground, from which you can enjoy three glaciers (Spegazzini Glacier, Heim Glacier and Peineta Glacier), the mountains that surround the Bay and the charm of one of the mirrors of most spectacular water in the world.
Once at the Refuge, visitors will be able to enjoy the gastronomy, the shop and an incredible panoramic view both from its rooms and from the outside.
The Spegazzini Refuge has the Main Room located facing the lake and its large window gives us an unparalleled panoramic view of the Spegazzini Glacier. The Captain’s Club Lounge has privileged views of the Spegazzini Glacier and the Heim Glacier.
It also has a section for pedestrians.
Then the navigation begins back to the port of departure.
